USA State-By-State Poll Opening and Closing Times

When you can vote..

Notes:
~ Arizona and Hawaii do not observe Daylight Savings Time.
~ 13 states have multiple time zones.

Alabama

In Alabama, all polls are open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Central Time.

Alaska

In Alaska, all polling places are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Alaska Time.
Alaska is divided between the Alaska time zone and the Hawaii-Aleutian time zone.

Arizona

In the state of Arizona, all polling places are open from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM Mountain Time.

Arkansas

In the state of Arkansas, all polling places are open from 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM.
If you are in line when the polls close, you will be allowed to vote.

California

In the state of California, all polls are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Pacific Time.

Colorado

In the state of Colorado, the polls are open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Mountain Time.

Connecticut

In the state of Connecticut, all polling places will be open from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM Eastern Time.

Delaware

In the state of Delaware, the polls are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Eastern Time. If you are in line waiting to vote at 8pm, you will be allowed to vote.

Florida

In the state of In Florida, all polls are open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM local time.
Florida is split between Eastern / Central time zones.

Georgia

In the state of Georgia, polls are open from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM Eastern Time.
Any voter who is waiting in line to vote at 7:00 PM will be allowed to vote.

Hawaii

In the state of Hawaii, polls are open from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM local time.

Idaho

In the state of Idaho, all polls will be open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
In some instances, the Clerk is able to open polling at 7:00 AM.
Idaho is split between the Mountain / Pacific time zones.

Illinois

In the state of Illinois, all polls are open from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM Central Time.

Indiana

In the state of Indiana polls will be open from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM local time.
Indiana is split between Eastern / Central time zones.

Iowa

In the state of Iowa, all polls will be open from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM Central time.

Kansas

In the state of Kansas, most polls are open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Central Time as Kansas mandates in its state laws that the polls must be open a minimum of twelve (12) hours. Counties may open the polls earlier and close them later.
Kansas is divided between Central and Mountain time zones.

Kentucky

In the state of Kentucky, all polls are open from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Central and Eastern Time.
All those in line by 6:00 pm are allowed to vote.
Kentucky is split between Eastern / Central time zones.

Louisiana

In the state of Louisiana all polls are open from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM Central Time.

Maine

In the state of Maine, municipalities with a population less than 500 open between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM while municipalities with a population of 500 or more open between 6 AM and 8AM.
All polls close at 8:00 PM.

Maryland

In the state of Maryland, all polling places are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Eastern Time.

Massachusetts

In the state of Massachusetts, most polling places are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Eastern Time.
However, municipalities may open as early as 5:45 AM.

Michigan

In the state of Michigan, all polls will be open in the lower and upper peninsulas of Michigan from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Central and Eastern times.
Michigan is split between Eastern / Central time zones.

Minnesota

In the state of Minnesota, most polling places are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Central Time.
However, smaller municipalities may open as late as 10:00 AM.

Mississippi

In the state of Mississippi, all polling placesare open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Central Time.

Missouri

In the state of Missouri, all polling places are open from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM Central Time.

Montana

In the state of Montana, polling place hours throughout the state vary.
Polling places open between 7:00 AM and 12:00 noon and close at 8:00 PM.
Contact your local elections official for exact times.

Nebraska

In the state of Nebraska, all polling locations are open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM central time and 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM mountain time.
Nebraska is divided between Central / Mountain time zones.

Nevada

In the state of Nevada, all polling places are open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Pacific Time.

New Hampshire

In the state of New Hampshire, the polling place hours of operation vary. Generally, polling places open between 6:00 AM and 11:00 AM and close at 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM, Eastern Time.
Contact your municipal clerk's office for actual polling place times.

New Jersey

In the state of New Jersey, all polls are open from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM Eastern Time.

New Mexico

In the state of New Mexico, all polls will be open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Mountain Time.

New York

In the state of New York, polls open at 6:00 AM and close at 9:00 PM Eastern Time.

North Carolina

In the state of North Carolina, the polling places will be open from 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM Eastern Time.

North Dakota

In the state of North Dakota, polling locations cannot open earlier than 7:00 AM and must be open by 9:00 AM with the exception of those precincts in which fewer than 75 votes were cast in the last General Election.
The governing body of the exempt polling locations may direct the polls to open no later than 12:00 noon.
All polling locations must remain open until 7:00 PM and close no later than 9:00 PM.

North Dakota is divided between Central / Mountain time zones.

Ohio

In the state of Ohio, all polling places will be open from 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM Eastern Time. However, if you are in line at the time of the poll closing at 7:30 PM you are allowed to vote.

Oklahoma

In the state of Oklahoma, all polls are open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Central Time.

Oregon

The state of Oregon is an elections by mail state.
However a voter can still vote on election day at their local municipal clerks office 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
Oregon is split between the Mountain / Pacific time zones.

Pennsylvania

In the state of Pennsylvania, all polls are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Eastern Time.

Rhode Island

In the state of Rhode Island, most polls open at 7:00 AM and all polls close at 8:00 PM.

South Carolina

In the state of South Carolina, all polls are open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Eastern Time.

South Dakota

In the state of South Dakota, all polls will be open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Any voter at the polling place prior to 7:00 pm is allowed to cast a ballot.
South Dakota is divided between Central / Mountain time zones.

Tennessee

In the state of Tennessee, most polling places are open between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM.  All precincts close 8:00 PM eastern standard time and 7:00 PM central standard time.
Polls must be open a minimum of 10 hours.
They may be open for a maximum of 13 hours.
Tennessee is split between Eastern / Central time zones.

Texas

In the state of Texas, all polling places are open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Central Time.
Texas is divided between Central / Mountain time zones.

Utah

In the state of Utah, all polling places are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Vermont

In the state of Vermont, all polls are open from 10:00 AM to 7:00PM. Most polls open earlier.

Virginia

In the state of Virginia, all polls are open from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM Eastern Time.

Washington

The state of Washington is a mail in ballot state. It does not have polling places.
Call, visit or use the internet to ask county election officials about voting centers/election offices.

Washington, D.C.

Polls are open 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Eastern Time.

West Virginia

In the state of West Virginia, all polling places are open from 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM Eastern Time.

Wisconsin

In the state of Wisconsin, all polls are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Central Time.

Wyoming

In the state of Wyoming, all polling places are open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Mountain Time.
