This topic focuses on solutions to eliminate the dirty, contaminated water in our local and municipal water systems. Flint (Michigan) was just the tip of the iceberg. Dangerous heavy metals and contaminants in your water are more widespread than you may think. Worse, is that our government (federal, state and local) are either asleep at the wheel or being bribed to look the other way.

"We've now published the water testing results for 239 water samples collected by our readers all across America. So far, 16 out of 239 samples (about 6.7%) showed alarmingly high levels of toxic heavy metals. Six out of 239 (2.5%) violate current EPA limits."

The City That Unpoisoned Its Pipes

https://nextcity.org/features/view/flint-lansing-michigan-replaced-lead-water-pipes

Just 45 miles west of Flint is the capital of Michigan, Lansing. By June 2017, all of its pipes will be completely replaced & offer safe, clean water.

How'd they do it?

Well first, they started 10 years ago. However, this process has yielded a lot of usable, duplicable information. Here's one way Lansing has unpoisoned it's pipes while cutting the cost and time of replacing pipes IN HALF. Their experimentation of techniques yielded the following innovative physical process: "All workers have to do is cut two squares in the ground at either end of the line. One exposes the water main and service connection at the curb, and the other exposes the service box. Then, using a unique tool invented by engineers in the city’s own machine shop, it takes just one elegant motion to thread the old lead pipe out and the new copper pipe in."

How have residents been affected?

"The overhaul has been so efficient and cost-effective, residents barely noticed it."

Now, while it's still going to cost $$ to replace the pipes in every state, city & town, financing plans and rebate options are also being proposed & discussed.

'Erin Brockovich' Carcinogen In Tap Water Of More Than 200 Million Americans

http://www.ewg.org/research/chromium-six-found-in-us-tap-water

"A new EWG analysis of federal data from nationwide drinking water tests shows that the compound [ Chromium-6 ] contaminates water supplies for more than 200 million Americans in all 50 states."

A two year study conducted in 2008 concluded that chromium-6 caused cancer in rats and mice.

In 2010, scientists at the California Office of Environmental Health "concluded that ingestion of tiny amounts of chromium-6 can cause cancer in people, a conclusion affirmed by state scientists in New Jersey and North Carolina."

Geez. WTF.

Check out this interactive map and click on your city or town. See the levels of chromium-6 in your drinking water.
